Carpal Tunnel Decompression

Carpal Tunnel Decompression Surgery is a procedure designed to relieve pressure on the median nerve, which becomes compressed in carpal tunnel syndrome. During surgery, an incision is made in the wrist and the transverse carpal ligament is cut to create more space for the nerve. This releases pressure and helps reduce symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. After surgery, patients need to dress their wounds in a bandage and may experience some pain or swelling in the wrist area. Most people can return to normal activities after seven days while avoiding heavy lifting or repetitive motions with the hand.

Fracture Surgery

Fracture surgery is a procedure performed to repair broken bones. The first step is for the patient to undergo an X-ray or CT scan so that the doctor can identify and assess the type of fracture. Depending on the severity of the break, either open reduction with internal fixation (ORIF) or closed reduction with external fixation may be used. During ORIF, the broken bones are repositioned and held in place using metal plates, screws, or rods. External fixation entails attaching metal pins directly to the bone and connecting them to an external device that holds the bones in correct alignment while they heal. Once the fracture has been repaired, a period of rest is usually recommended to allow the bone to heal. Typically, recovery times vary depending on the severity of the fracture and type of treatment applied but can range from 6 to 14 weeks.
